GMKtec M6 Ultra Windows 11 Install
I did a fresh load of Windows 11 onto this device using a USB key built using the Microsoft Windows Media Creation tool. Early in the install process it will prompt you for missing drivers. This is for the storage controller. You can find it inside the driver download pack on GMKtec’s website. Linked to a Google Drive file. Alternatively you can download and use their Windows 11 image, but I have no idea what else that comes bundled with so I skipped that option.
I extracted the full driver pack to a USB drive. During the Windows install when prompted I used: 1_Chipset\Drivers\Interface_Driver and selected SMBus
This was enough for the NVMe drive to show up and to complete the Windows installation. Once windows was installed I used device manager to review devices with missing drivers and simply pointed Windows at the USB drive and it figured out what was needed. I did not run any of their install scripts.
For the AMD graphics I used AMD’s Adrenalin auto detection tool. This figured out what was needed and installed the correct drivers.
Note: The default boot order in the BIOS is USB first and then NVMe. So make sure to change this or remove the USB drive once Windows completes the initial install and reboots. Otherwise you’ll end up back in the installer. Only other option I changed in the BIOS was to enable secure boot. The default settings for the CPU and Chassis fan is to auto adjust as needed, so I left this as is. Performance profile was optimal IIRC, so also just left it as is.
